Don’t do “$ rm *something*” in Linux

just deleted all data on an external HD! 140GB gone. I only tried to delete a protected Folder on the HD and typed as root:

$ rm *something*

Don’t do this command as root!!! No attention message will be shown at all, it just does what you say your system to do. Well I was a little bit tired and had my mind on Mars. Fortunately, I followed all the backup recommendations in the past and so are 99,8% of the lost data on this HD again. Happy days!
